Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Investec, Fidelity International, Others

The latest moves and appointments in wealth management in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and other select locations.

Investec
The wealth management firm, Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) has appointed Kirsty Cartwright as investment director in its Birmingham office.

Cartwright will specialise in delivering comprehensive strategic wealth management services to clients with a particular focus on female clients, business owners and entrepreneurs especially within the technology sector, an area of strong growth in the region.

“Drawing on my experience of working with clients in Birmingham and the Midlands generally, I appreciate the need to offer efficient, timely, cost effective and simple investment advice in an approachable and relatable manner. I particularly enjoy working closely with clients and their families, often over many generations, to construct investment portfolios which complement their personal and professional requirements, adapting to changing risk appetites and life experiences,” Cartwright said.

Cartwright previously worked at RBC Brewin Dolphin in Birmingham, where she was responsible for client assets covering general investment accounts, individual savings accounts, trusts, self-invested personal pensions, and offshore bonds. Cartright, who has more than 23 years of experience in the wealth management industry, started her career as an investment manager with Gerrards, now Barclays Wealth, and Mazars Solutions as a trust investment manager before moving to Brewin Dolphin.

Gravis Capital Management
The investment company, Gravis Capital Management has appointed Sam Slator as marketing director.

Slator is joining from Chelsea Financial Services where she spent 12 years as head of communications, working in fund research and markets as well as launching FundCalibre, an independent online fund research ratings agency. Slator also worked at Threadneedle Investments and Fidelity International before joining Chelsea in January 2012.

Slator’s appointment follows a series of high-profile recent industry appointments that include Cameron Gardner becoming the firm’s first head of distribution, Jason Anderson as head of London sales, Ed Simpson, joining as head of energy and infrastructure to oversee all direct infrastructure and renewables investment activity, David Barley joining as investment director focusing on Gravis’ private market impact strategies and, most recently, Anthony Curl joining as CIO for the direct investment business.

Fidelity International
Phil Cliff has joined Fidelity International as director, sustainable investing with a focus on climate integration. Aaron Hay has joined as director, sustainable investing with a focus on ESG integration within the firm’s private credit strategies.

Cliff will work across the business to enhance Fidelity’s climate strategy and transition plan, driving forward the firm’s commitment to halve emissions across its investment portfolios by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050, the firm said.

Previously head of climate at M&G Investments, Cliff led the climate strategy and transition plan, including the creation of the firm’s net zero investment framework, portfolio analytics tool, scenario modelling and climate reporting. He has over 20 years of investment experience, including as an equity fund manager, having previously worked at firms including Threadneedle Asset Management and Skandia Life.

Hay will lead the development and execution of the sustainable investing strategy for Fidelity’s private credit capabilities, collaborating closely with the firm’s investment professionals to ensure that ESG ideas are consistently integrated throughout the investment process. Hay is joining from Federated Hermes where he was responsible for investee stewardship, sustainable and impact investment strategy, and co-managing a growing sustainable fixed income team.
