Mitchell has announced a raft of internal promotions, 11 in
all across the UK practice, with four in the private wealth
division promoted to partners. The appointments take effect from
1 May and are subject to SRA approval.
Those promoted are Emma McCann in the Sheffield tax, trusts and estates office. She started at the firm as a paralegal in 1999 and was made a senior associate in 2017. Andrea Jones will also be a partner in tax, trusts and estates, based at the firm’s Leeds office. Jones became the first to join the Leeds tax team in 2018. Since then she has expanded the team to include an associate, solicitor, and paralegal, with more hires slated for May, the firm said.
Jenna Lucas and Mark Hands have been made partners in family law based in London. Lucas specialises in international family law, including child abduction cases and financial disputes involving international jurisdictions and was made a senior associate in 2018.
Birmingham-based Hands, who was also made a senior associate in 2018, specialises in family law, including issues relating to religious ceremonies, moving children across international borders and representing people in financial divorce claims both national and internationally.
“I’m delighted to be congratulating another round of new partners to the private wealth division. All four have worked extremely hard to get where they are today and have become invaluable parts of their respective teams, as well as the wider business,” Craig Marshall, CEO of the private wealth division said.
In total the firm has promoted 11 to partner roles, with eight of
those being female and three having been trained and qualified at
the firm, Irwin Mitchell said. The firm provides legal and
financial services from 15 locations nationwide.

Global Asset Management has appointed Marc Hall to the
newly-created role of head of exchange traded fund sales for
Switzerland.
Based in Zurich, Hall will be responsible for the distribution of
the firm’s ETFs to wholesale and institutional clients across
Switzerland. He will report to Olga De Tapia, head of ETF
sales.
Hall has more than 20 years’ experience in the asset management
industry, most recently at Vanguard Investments in Switzerland
where he was a sales executive responsible for wholesale
distribution. Prior to that, he worked in various sales roles at
firms including Fidelity Worldwide Investment, State Street and J
Safra Sarasin.
HSBC said more people will be hired for the ETF team later this
year.
The announcement follows the recent appointment of Thorsten
Michalik as global head of external wholesale, which also
includes responsibility for ETF sales across both the firm’s
institutional and wholesale client businesses.
