Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Guernsey Finance, YFM

The latest moves in wealth management from across Europe and the UK.

Guernsey Finance
Guernsey Finance, the promotional agency for the island’s finance industry, has appointed Henry Freeman (pictured) as strategic advisor.

Freeman, who began his role towards the end of 2021, will work alongside the agency’s strategy and technical team, executive team and its board, to assist with high-level strategic matters.

A 20-year career has seen him serve in several senior and board level roles in investment banking, fund management and fintech in London and the Channel Islands. He also provides non-executive director and advisory services to investment managers and funds, and is leading a mission with the Guernsey Investment & Funds Association to bring investment education into schools.

Recently, Freeman has also been appointed as an independent member of the new States Investment Board by the States of Guernsey’s policy and resources committee, helping to provide independent investment expertise and governance to all States funds, monitoring investment strategy and performances.

YFM Equity Partners
YFM Equity Partners has appointed experienced dealmaker Stephen Murray as investment director to strengthen its support for fast-growing businesses across the Midlands.

An investor, lender and advisor with more than 20 years’ experience, Murray is an ICAEW chartered accountant who started his career with Mazars, moving to EY and KPMG in advisory roles, before joining the Royal Bank of Scotland. He also spent three years with Finance Birmingham as an investment director, making investments into SMEs across the region before spending two years as an investor with BGF.

For the last two years, he has been supporting local SMEs with fundraising, acquisitions and strategic advice. Murray will use his network of contacts across the region to generate investment opportunities for YFM with dynamic businesses across the Midlands. He will be based at YFM’s new office at 102 Colmore Row in central Birmingham where the firm plans to grow its presence and expand its team this year.

YFM typically invests between £2 million and £10 million per deal into businesses with strong growth potential located across the UK from offices in London, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.
