Champness has appointed Gareth Norris as a partner in
its Peterborough office.
Norris is joining from Grant Thornton where he was a director and responsible individual (RI) within the audit practice. He was also a leader of the national Not-for-Profit Team.
FCA-qualified, Norris’s expertise covers accounts’ preparation, internal and external audit, and reviews of internal controls across a wide range of industries and sectors, including landed estates and agriculture, food and beverage, construction and real estate, as well as not-for-profit organisations from national charities to membership organisations, independent schools and academy trusts.
Norris will work with the Peterborough team to provide audit, accounting and advisory services to the firm’s unique client base, which includes entrepreneurial businesses, landed estates and not-for-profit organisations.
Maples Group
Maples Group
has appointed Cristiane Matos as a senior vice president in the
liquidations and fiduciary team. She will be based in the British
Virgin Islands.
Matos has more than two decades of experience as a lawyer and senior manager, handling matters across an array of related practice areas including intellectual property, and offshore companies and trusts, with focus on fiduciary services.
Her experience includes working across multi-jurisdictions, as well as developing new lines of business for a Latin American practice. Prior to Maples, Cristiane worked as head and senior manager at the BVI offices of a variety of large corporate and trust and fund services’ providers.
A native of Brazil, Matos holds a law degree from the Universidade Estadual de Londrina. She attended the Fundação Getulio Vargas’s post-graduation course in intellectual property and has a diploma and certificates in trust management from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners ("STEP"). Matos speaks fluent English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Marc Randall, the head of Maples' Global Voluntary Liquidations team, said: "We are excited to have someone with Cristiane's significant local experience joining our global firm," adding that he was also "looking forward to working with her to grow our liquidations and fiduciary business in the BVI."

appointments and investments in its technological
capabilities to strengthen its Loan Market Solutions (LMS),
support to its private debt and structured finance
clients.
Mahen Surnam has joined as director, Loan Market Solutions to oversee the continued growth and development of the LMS proposition. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the loan agency market, structured finance and private debt.
Scott Youd has joined as the technology lead for Vistra Capital Markets. He is responsible for the technology systems used by Vistra’s Capital Markets platform, including Solvas|Asset ManagementTM. Youd, who has more than 20 years’ experience covering accounting, funds, loans and securitisation, also has a strong understanding of debt capital markets’ transactions.
