Carmignac Boost Emerging Equities Team

Carmignac Gestion, the French asset manager, has appointed Edward Cole to the role of analyst in its emerging equities team, with effect from 4 February.

With 12 years’ experience covering emerging market equities, Cole has spent the last six years co-managing emerging market funds, previously at Ashmore group, and more recently at Finisterre Capital. Prior to this, he was an equity strategist for six years, most recently covering EMEA at JP Morgan Securities.

In his new role, within the emerging equities team, Cole will be responsible for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, working alongside five other team members, and headed by Simon Pickard. The team is further supported by Carmignac’s senior global sector analysts and macro-strategy team.

Cole will contribute to the firm’s two emerging equities funds: Carmignac Emergents and Carmignac Emerging Discovery, as well as its flexible fund Carmignac Emerging Patrimoine, the latest in the "Patrimoine" range. He will also further contribute to the cross-generation of ideas within different portfolios, the firm said in a statement.

In other recent developments, earlier this month, Carmignac Gestion hired Anne Bellavoine as head of marketing, leading a team of 20 people, reporting to deputy managing director Eric Le Coz.
